Reylene Rose Hilaga

Coming from a Filipino family, Reylene grew up regularly singing karaoke (mostly because her mum would bribe her with money to sing for her aunts' and uncles' entertainment), but through this developed a love for performing early on. After completing a Bachelors Degree in Performing Arts at the National Academy of Singing and Dramatic Art (NASDA) , Reylene got involved in Christchurch's local theatre scene, featuring in two kids' shows at The Court Theatre: The Littlest Ninja and Thumbelina. Reylene is pleased to say that both those roles were partially gained due to her lack of size, and proud of the fact that she can continue this saga by now starring in The Tortoise And The Hare as The Gingerbread Man, who is also traditionally very small (if you've seen Shrek, and also, a real gingerbread man).

Reylene is excited to be going on tour with Playhouse, as she gets to do it by not only doing something she loves - playing small characters in kids shows - but because she also gets to travel around Aotearoa with two really cool homies.
