The artistic Polly Crone, is a polychromatic character from Canterbury. Born in Christchurch she attended Mayfield Primary, near Ashburton, and Mount Hutt College, in Methven and finally Ashburton College. At school she loved all things arty, danced jazz ballet, and became interested in musical theatre. In fact she enjoyed the theatre backstage excitement so much that when it came time to decide on a career, costuming seemed the perfect fit.
From 2012 to 2014 she attended Design and Arts College in Christchurch gaining an Advanced Diploma in Fashion Design. While studying she placed second in a wearable arts competition working with recycled water bottles, did an internship with Stella Gardner at Playhouse, and in her final year was named Student of The Year. Now in Wellington she busies herself with costume design for amateur theatre companies. In September 2016 she collaborated with Seraphina Brown on the costumes for Urinetown: the Musical (with Stagecraft Theatre).
In an alternative universe, Polly would love to be Pippi Longstocking because she is full of gumption and has tons of fun. She loved the story as a child, had a toy monkey she carried everywhere, and even now still likes to wear stockings and old-fashioned “pinnis” or aprons. So, everyone watch out – she might just have super-strong super-powers too!
