Mario Sadra de Jong

Auckland born and Christchurch raised, Mario has got to be one of the friendliest chaps to ever grace the Playhouse stage! But this fella hasn’t always been so polite and sweet, he confessed. Back when he was little, he dreamed of growing up to be a mad scientist who would one day take over the world!

Lucky for all of humanity, Mario soon changed his tune when he discovered his love for the stage. From his first role as an extra in “The Wind and the Willows” with the Harlequin Players at the tender age of 9, he knew that the theatre life was the life for him. He went on to study Film, Animation and Graphic Design at YooBee before studying for his Bachelor of Performing Arts at NASDA in Christchurch.

When Mario isn’t acting, he loves to play the clarinet (he played in a professional orchestra for over nine years), watching cartoons, and taking long walks around all the new cities and towns he ends up in on tour.

Now, the newest member of The Playhouse team, Mario is bringing his dedication, passion and love for entertaining to a school near you!
