Alyssa O’Connor

Playhouse Tour Coordinator

Mix beauty and serenity, sparkles and fairy dust, dedication and perseverance, gentleness and a smile that warms your heart and you might get our fabulous Alyssa.

After studying English, European culture and Primary teaching Alyssa took a role here at Playhouse, and she hasn’t looked back since! She is a softly spoken support person who does whatever is required to help with the scheduling, touring, promotions, resource booklets, website updates and anything else at all that is needed. Alyssa loves working here because of the people, the fun environment and the variety she has in her role. She’s happy trying new things but also enjoys the ongoing tasks of contacting schools and crafting emails picking just the right words.

Alyssa is a solutions-focussed individual who embodies the Walt Disney philosophies of “If you can dream it, you can do it” and “It’s kind of fun to do the impossible”. She also has a creative side that pops out in our resource booklets for teachers, her fun clothing (from Black Milk) and her passionate discussions about the game ‘Final Fantasy’ or the latest movie seen on netflix.

It won’t surprise you to learn that in Alyssa’s spare time she volunteers for Cat Rescue Christchurch and fosters unsocial kittens with a dedication and love that transforms them into healthy, happy, loving companions.

Alyssa loves to read and at one stage thought of becoming a librarian. If she can’t read on the bus to and from work and get in at least 1 hr a day reading she goes into withdrawal. Her favourite genres are English Literature classics, historical fiction and quirky dystopian novels.

And speaking of books, if Alyssa could be a Disney princess she would be Belle, not because she’s beautiful, but because she has an extensive library!

Alyssa is truly one of life’s genuine people who gives more than she takes and is able to see beauty in hidden places.
